Award Winnah!

Dee at Homesick Cajun picked me for a Versatile Blogger Award!!  Please stop by her blog & show some love.  If you live for a good love story like I do, read her latest post.

The way this award works is you must:

A. Thank the person who gave you this award.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dee!!!!  I'm glad you like my blog, & please know that the feeling is mutual.  If I could give this award back to you, I totally would - but I don't think you want to think of 15 more bloggers!  Lol.

B.  Share 7 things about yourself.

1.  I am Polish & proud of it!  I love the food & learning the language is on my bucket list.

2.  I own enough panties to go a month without washing them before I'd run out.

3.  I was born on Halloween.  My mother's due date was in the beginning of November, & as soon as the doctor told her that she told him I would be born on Halloween - because she's not particularly fond of the holiday.  I think that pretty much set the tone for our relationship, but that's a story for another day.

4.  I'm very into politics.  I know that's sometimes a taboo thing to bring up, but if you read my blog long enough you're bound to find out anyway.  I'm a proud Democrat who is not afraid to share my liberal opinions.  Consider yourselves warned.

5.  I recently watched (& loved) the Twilight movies, which is probably something I should be embarrassed about.  Oh well.  Team Edward, bitches!!

6.  Here's a list of the TV series set to record on my DVR:  True Blood, Flipping Out, Big Bang Theory, Psychic Kids, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon & Judge Judy.  Talk about eclectic.

7.  My family is everything to me.  I know these 7 things are supposed to be about me, but there's no me without them, so it counts.  My extended family (grandparents, cousins, aunts & uncles) is very close.  I love them all so much that it hurts, & I don't know what I would do without them.  That family keeps growing all the time too, because the boyfriend's family has been added to my brood.  Everyone (both mine & his) is always involved in what everyone else is doing, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

C.  Pass the award on to 15 newly discovered bloggers.

I'm going to break the rules here.  I've only been blogging since April, so I'm making an executive decision that everyone is newly discovered to me.  I'm giving this award to my favorites.  And yes, I realize there's not 15...I'm choosing to be choosey.  Deal with it!

Here they are, in no particular order.  Drumroll please....

Suggestions anyone?

One of the nice things about my unit at work is that the co-workers celebrate each others birthdays.

The first one I'll be participating in is Wednesday, & I offered to bake the cake.

None of my co-workers have any ideas, so I need your help.

What kind of cake should I bake?

What flavor?  What kind of icing?  To sprinkle or not to sprinkle?

If anyone has any interesting ideas, let me know!

Meet me on Monday

Meet me on Monday is hosted by Java at Never Growing Old.  It's a blog hop/survey/fun way to meet fellow bloggers!  I just learned that Java is a fellow PA girl, too.  I'm always happy to show some love to a "neighbor."

Questions:

1. Do you watch any Soap Operas?

No - but I do watch other questionable TV (Maury, Judge Judy, Cheaters, etc.)

2. What appliance is used the most in your house?
Is the computer considered an appliance?  If not, the microwave.

3. Do you wear make-up every day?
I used to - & then I became a nurse aide.

4. What is your worst pet-peeve?
There are far too many to choose from.

5. What is your favorite lunch meat?
I never really thought about it.  I guess turkey.

Aren't they purdy?

A few months ago my MIL pulled a shit ton of stickers & other weeds out of a "garden" left in my backyard by the people who lived here before.

There are a ton of poppies out there that we knew about, but much to our surprise there's a bunch of other healthy stuff that was being choked by all the crap.

Right now, we've got these:

By the way

Have you checked out my cousin's new blog yet??

She's new to the blogging scene, so please show her some love & be a follower.  I'm sure she'll follow back!

It's been a little more than a lazy Sunday

I haven't done anything around the house this week because of being sick, so I've got my work cut out for me.

But...since my cough still isn't gone, I'm not working on it tonight.  I'll be taking DJ's advise, which was, "Just rest & watch True Blood.  You can clean later.

You don't have to tell me twice...although the mess is kind of making me twitch.

Let me paint a picture

Me, wrapped in a towel; with my hair in another.  I've got a bag of dog food in one hand, & a fly-swatter in another.  I am hunting a stink bug.

I couldn't go on like that forever, so I lost the dog food - & the towel I was wrapped in.

There I am, naked & bouncing around my kitchen all because of a stupid stink bug.

And you know what?  I smashed that bitch!

Now that I've given you the gift of crazy, will you please do me a favor?

My beautiful, smart, funny, kind, caring & wonderful cousin Jill made herself a blog.  I'm oh-so happy that she joined us!

Please visit her blog by clicking here & become a follower.  I know you'll love it!

I give up.

Tuesday night was terrible.  I don't know how I made it through work.  Then I got home & just fell apart.  My throat was killing me, & I was exhausted from the coughing.  I just wanted to sleep, but I couldn't...because of the coughing.  In fact, I didn't get to sleep until after 4:30, & then I woke up again at 7:30.

But, I got smart & called the doctor's office first thing.  I had an appointment at 9:00 yesterday, & my suspicions were correct - I have strep throat.  I stopped at work on my way home from the doctor to find out what I should do (the doctor told me to stay home, but I'm within my 90-day probation period at work because I just started in June).  Thankfully, HR told me the doctor's note was sufficient, so I had the day to rest.

I started my antibiotics, & I was starting to feel better by yesterday afternoon.  My MIL came over to help with laundry, dishes & some other things I've been too drained to do.  It was such a relief to finally start to feel better.

And then, I tried to go to sleep...once again with the freaking coughing.  I went to bed at 11:30, but didn't get to sleep until sometime after 2.

I woke up this morning (still coughing) a little sick to my stomach.  Turns out, nausea is a side effect of Penicillin.  Great.  Just what I want to deal with as I go back to work.

I keep trying to tell myself that it's just today & tomorrow, then I have the weekend to rest.

Wish me luck!

Vote for me!

Please stop over at Unexpected Surprises & vote for my photo montage.

I thought I had a good idea, but the only person who voted for me is my SIL. : (

Ironically, my SIL seems to be in the lead! : )

So if you vote for her, I won't hold it against you.  Her montage was really cute.

I can't tell if I'm hot or cold or both.

Yesterday afternoon my throat started to get scratchy.  I drank some hot tea & had a few cough drops, but didn't pay much attention to it (or the slight cough I had developed along the way). With all the excitement over my cupcake disaster, it didn't dawn on me until about 8:00 that we hadn't eaten dinner yet...and I wasn't even hungry.

I tried to eat something small, even though I had no appetite, then spent the rest of the night working on the ass imprint I've started to make on my couch - & that is where I should have stayed.

However, at 11:00 my oldest "friend" called to ask if I would go to the ER with her.  She noticed a black mark on her foot two weeks ago that she never did anything about...& it slowly became a blistered, pussy open sore.  Even though I haven't seen my "friend" in 6 months (because her new friends are all way cooler than me with their drinking & frivilous money spending), I've know her for for almost 15 years, so if she wanted an ER buddy in the middle of the night I was more than happy to oblige.

Mistake.

On the drive home at 1:30 I started to ache all over & the coughing had gotten worse.

I've slept most of the day away between episodes of sweat & chills.  Despite all my sleep, I have no energy & coughing has become a huge undertaking.  My chest feels foggy & I'm so achey that even my skin hurts..  I just took my temperature, & it's 100.4.

Wanna hear the best part?  I know you do, so here goes...my health insurance from my old job was cancelled as of July 31st.  That's right - yesterday.  FML...really, really hard.

I absolutely have to be at work tomorrow.  I'm still within my 90-day probation period, so any missed time is a big deal.  So please, put all your good energy into the universe for me in hopes that this is a 24-hour thing.

I cannot be responsible for infected a bunch of elderly people with already comprimised immune systems, 'cuz that just ain't right.
