It's raining today. It's been raining since Friday. It's supposed to rain until at least Friday. It's left me with a total lack of inspiration.
Imagine that?
So today I'm phoning this one in. I'm not being a Tuesday Ten hater, I'm just saying that I don't even have the energy it requires to make my Tuesday Ten creative & funny like my buddy G.
(Do you see what I did there, Gini???? I'm totally impressed with myself now.)
Anyway, enough of the inside joke. Now to the Main Event:
1. I took my mom shopping for a Mother's Day gift last night. It was a week late, but that was her fault. She wanted to get Ugg boots, but ended up with a ring instead. That made me happy.
2. I came home from the grocery store to find a flock of geese milling around the field behind my house. Random.
3. I'm still on vacation, & I don't go back until Sunday night. The plan for the rest of the week? Laziness.
4. Maury reached an all time low today by having a stained blanket tested for an angry wife. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea that Maury could have gone any lower than he already was.
5. Is it wrong of me to want to delete some distant relatives from Facebook? Is it wrong that I don't care if it's wrong? Then, do those two wrongs make a right?
6. On my way to my next door neighbor's house this morning, I found 4 four leaf clovers.
7. I don't care if chips & salsa aren't a suitable lunch.
8. According to some religious zealots in my area, the world is going to end on Saturday. I'm glad I had vacation this week.
9. I bought a new lunch box last night. It has owls on it. You know you're jealous.
10. Given what the poor people in the south are currently bracing themselves for, I find it a little offensive to see a "flood watch" symbol in the corner of my TV screen. The worst thing that's going to happen here is that we may not be able to use a low-lying road for a while. Not really a flood, if you ask me.

Lazy Sunday, lazy blog post.
I was woken up a little too early by my dog, & then kept awake by a snoring, beg-hogging boyfriend.
I had the largest pile of laundry I've seen in a long time taking up space in my bedroom.
I desperately needed to mop my kitchen & bathroom floors.
So, I devoted the day to getting this house in shape. Here's what I did today.
Who else loves that show? Cheese curls & elk - c'mon now!

- Started the laundry at 10:00 AM. Still going strong at 6:30 PM. FML.
- Mopped those nasty floors.
- Cleaned some stuff, & then cleaned some more stuff.
- Took my entire vacuum apart because it wasn't working. Found so much fur in the hose that I should have named it & put in in a designer bag like Paris Hilton.
- Organized both my living room closets
- Argued with my dog everytime she needed to go outside. She doesn't do rain so well.
- Febreezed the shit out of some stuff so it doesn't smell like cigarettes. Even though I have a strict "No Smoking" policy in this house, it still stinks. I'd really like the boyfriend to drop that nasty habit sooner, rather than later.

My lazy Saturday comes at a cost...crap.
I didn't do the laundry & clean like I planned to today.
Instead, the dog & I watched all six episodes of The Walking Dead (freaking love that show!) & various other things I needed to get off the DVR.
And while my Saturday on the sofa was pretty glorious, it means one thing: I have to clean tomorrow...on Sunday. And we all know how I feel about Sundays.
I really need a maid.
PS.
In case you haven't noticed, I've been totally uninspired lately. I'm hoping to get back on the train to Bloggy-land ASAP.

Close the curtains & lock the doors.
I have been really looking forward to this weekend, because it's my first full weekend off in a while. When you do the kind of work I do, two consecutive days off is the best thing ever!
So there I was on Wednesday, praying for the week to move quickly toward my weekend off & cookie baking with Jill - and then a coworker asked me to switch Saturdays. Tomorrow is her son's 2nd birthday, & she would have had to leave his party early for work.
Sigh.
Now I'm working Saturday. No weekend off. No cookie baking.
All I've got is Sunday. And as such, I've cancelled all my plans for that day. That day is going to be for DJ & I. Because when I do have days off, I'm always running around - but not on Sunday. We're going to shut out the world & have a whole day together, which I'm really, really looking foward to.
And there's other good news on the horizon too! Since I'm working this Saturday, I have off next Saturday - which means a 3 day weekend for this girl! Woot!
The family Christmas festivities begin next weekend too, which is also something I'm looking forward to.
There's just a few more gifts to pick up, & then all the work that goes into this holiday is done & it's time to just sit back & enjoy it.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Day 20 (On day 21) - Everyone is at church.
I did not blog yesterday. Gasp!
My PopPop's birthday party was held at my house yesterday, & there was far too much going on.
Yesterday's Today's 1st prompt is the meaning of my blog title, Closed on Sunday.
Ever since I started working at age 16 I have hated working on Sundays. I've always worked rotating Saturdays & several nights a week. That has never been an issue for me. But for some reason, Sundays just made me crazy. I didn't have anything pressing to do, like go to church, I just simply felt that Sunday was a day to sit around & do nothing.
The second part of the story stems from me moving in with DJ. I didn't grow up in some sprawling metropolis or anything, but it's a far cry from the rural area where we live now. One thing that will always drive me crazy is that everything here is closed on Sundays. We're talking restaurants, stores, etc. Basically, any family owned business (and some not family owned too) are all closed on Sunday. So on those days when I refuse to clean or do anything productive, there's nothing for me to do.
Ain't that a pisser?

It's been a little more than a lazy Sunday
I haven't done anything around the house this week because of being sick, so I've got my work cut out for me.
But...since my cough still isn't gone, I'm not working on it tonight. I'll be taking DJ's advise, which was, "Just rest & watch True Blood. You can clean later.
You don't have to tell me twice...although the mess is kind of making me twitch.

Is it Sunday already?
It creeps up on you quickly when you work on Saturday...again. Bitter much?
Today is going to be a (sort of) Lazy Sunday. HALLELUJAH!
Here's the list:
Anyway...enough about my bad habits.
The only other big project for today is detachment. Tomorrow starts my last week at my current job. I've decided that I don't care what happens this week. They can say & do whatever they want, because it won't matter after Friday. Since we all know I tend to swing from calm & collected to complete psychotic mess very quickly, the goal for the day (& the rest of the week) is to maintain that attitude.
When I told my good friend (one who shares my very sarcastic sense of humor) when my last day was she said, "I shall call it, Independence Day."
That's my mantra for the week. Whenever I feel myself starting to get crazy, I plan to use that to talk myself down from the ledge. Let's hope it works!

Here's the list:
- Light cleaning. Amazingly, this week hasn't taken it's usual harsh toll on my house.
- I have to find cat food. My Walmart excursion last night didn't pan out, but it wasn't a total loss. I was able to pick up a baby shower gift for next weekend.
- My hair looks tragic & must be dyed. Since it's summer, I'm going
back to my natural coloras close to my natural color as I could find in a box. I'm bored with the dark hair for now. - And then, there's the laundry. There's always laundry in this house.

I wish it didn't have to end.
This was such as great weekend.
I spent Friday night with the boyfriend. We had pizza & watched Sherlock Holmes. I live for nights when it's just the two of us doing nothing at all.
On Saturday DJ's sister had us over for a Mother's Day dinner. There was picnic food & chit-chat. I am so ready for summer & more of the same.
Afterwards my best friend Amanda & her husband came over. Even though DJ & I have been in our house since the end of January, we did not have a blender yet. Our friends bought one for usas a late housewarming gift so we could make mudslides! We drank too much & played board games. (FYI...If you don't own Life Twists & Turns, you should.).
Last summer a coworker of mine suggested a drink called a Transfusion. Amanda & I made some for ourselves last night, & they were excellent! It's vodka, Sprite & grape juice. I am currently envisioning us spending hot summer nights sipping more of those on my deck in the very near future.
Today was a typical lazy Sunday. I work up earlier than I would have liked to & cleaned a little bit. This afternoon was a Mother's Day party with my family. We got together at my aunt's house. There were lots of snackies & more pizza (You can never have too much pizza!). We watched some baseball, then some basketball & then my MomMom opening her gifts.
I got home about an hour ago & my own mother just texted me to say she is already wearing the PJs DJ & I got for her. I had a bit of an issue with my mother not too long ago which you can read about here. Lots of people (DJ in particular) don't understand why I would even want to be around her on Mother's Day...let alone give her a gift.
What most people don't understand is that I had a very, very dysfunctional relationship with my father - until three years ago, when I stopped talking to him completly. For better or for worse, she's all I've got. Although our relationship isn't picture perfect, I know that I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for her. And that is at least worth a pair of PJs.

This is a little redneck, don't you think?
I did all my cleaning yesterday, so I have nothing to do on this lazy Sunday. Woo hoo!
It's cloudy now, but it was beautiful here this morning. Ripley & I hung out on the front porch for a while before it got too hot. I'm sloooowly crocheting a blanket, so I worked on that & listened to some music. A few months ago I was introduced to Pandora, so I created a Jon Secada station because I can't get over the early 90s. Don't hate.
After that I had lunch in bed with the boyfriend. He doesn't do breakfast...because he sleeps through it. For the last few hours, we've been watching a marathon of National Geographic shows. Very informative. Did you know that box jellyfish have 24 eyes?
I should be doing laundry, or cleaning the crime scene off my ceiling (there's a serial bug killer on the loose!)...but I'm not going to. Instead, I'm going to lounge around the house & hope for a wicked thunderstorm!

Tell me how you really feel.
I can't very well mention Sunday in my blog title & then not post on Sunday - although at this point, I realize I'm talking to myself. In any event, I figured I'll take this opportunity to explain where the blog title came from.
There are two influences:
The first is my shocking realization that everything in this area is closed on Sunday, & the even more shocking realization that things are closed because everyone in the county (aside from the people I'm related to) is at church. I mean everyone. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that going to church is a bad thing. But what about the rest of us? What fun things are we supposed to do on our lazy Sundays if all the fun things are closed?
The second influence is just my overall opinion of Sunday. As you might have already gathered, I'm not a "get up & go to church" kind of girl. And even though I'm kind of annoyed about everything being closed, I generally refuse to do work of any kind on a Sunday. I love nothing more than doing nothing on a Sunday, although I usually spend the day doing boring, grown-up chores. Lame.
But, in honor of the new blog, I decided to take the day off. Below is a list of things I should have done today, followed by a list of things I actually did today.

Should have done:
- Laundry
- Cleaned the bathrooms
- Cleaned the kitchen
- Vacummed
- Gone grocery shopping
- Dyed my hair (which is long overdue, I might add)
- Continued organizing our spare bedroom, which is where I piled all the junk from our
recentmove...in January. Tee hee!
What I actually did:
- Laundry (Ok, I let that one slip. But only because I need something to wear tomorrow.)
- Baked chocolate chip muffins. And by "baked" I mean filled a muffin pan with pre-made batter.
- Wasted time on Facebook
- Wasted time on Blogger
- Took a half-assed shower (I rinsed my hair, but didn't wash it because I wanted to dye it & dye sticks better to dirty hair. Gross...)
- Watched Kull the Conqueror because my boyfriend is a loser
- Watched a 2-year-old put a dirty cat toy in her mouth, then crawl around on the floor that I didn't vacuum
- Cleaned up 3 piles of doggie diarrhea. It was runny too.
- Watched a neighborhood cat use my yard as a litter box
- Watched The In Laws with Michael Douglas & Ryan Reynolds. That was cute; much better than Kull the Conqueror
