It's raining today. It's been raining since Friday. It's supposed to rain until at least Friday. It's left me with a total lack of inspiration.
Imagine that?
So today I'm phoning this one in. I'm not being a Tuesday Ten hater, I'm just saying that I don't even have the energy it requires to make my Tuesday Ten creative & funny like my buddy G.
(Do you see what I did there, Gini???? I'm totally impressed with myself now.)
Anyway, enough of the inside joke. Now to the Main Event:
1. I took my mom shopping for a Mother's Day gift last night. It was a week late, but that was her fault. She wanted to get Ugg boots, but ended up with a ring instead. That made me happy.
2. I came home from the grocery store to find a flock of geese milling around the field behind my house. Random.
3. I'm still on vacation, & I don't go back until Sunday night. The plan for the rest of the week? Laziness.
4. Maury reached an all time low today by having a stained blanket tested for an angry wife. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea that Maury could have gone any lower than he already was.
5. Is it wrong of me to want to delete some distant relatives from Facebook? Is it wrong that I don't care if it's wrong? Then, do those two wrongs make a right?
6. On my way to my next door neighbor's house this morning, I found 4 four leaf clovers.
7. I don't care if chips & salsa aren't a suitable lunch.
8. According to some religious zealots in my area, the world is going to end on Saturday. I'm glad I had vacation this week.
9. I bought a new lunch box last night. It has owls on it. You know you're jealous.
10. Given what the poor people in the south are currently bracing themselves for, I find it a little offensive to see a "flood watch" symbol in the corner of my TV screen. The worst thing that's going to happen here is that we may not be able to use a low-lying road for a while. Not really a flood, if you ask me.

A room full of sweaty, fat guys
I'm sure that title left you wanting to read more. The thought of a room full of sweaty, fat guys is oh-so-appealing.
You must be asking why I would ever be writing about sweaty, fat guys in the first place. It follows the usual theme of my blog posts: everything is DJ's fault.
DJ is the VP of a gaming club in our area. His club hosted a tournament for a tabletop game called Warhammer over the weekend. There were approximately 50 sweaty, fat (and sweaty, thin) guys playing in the tournament.
It wasn't all bad though, because there were some super hot chicks hosting a bake sale too.
And the time & effort these sweaty, fat guys put into building an army to play this game is amazing. I thought I'd share some pictures of the artwork...& some other things I took pictures of when I got bored.

In case you thought I was joking about the sweaty, fat guys.
The dragon was painted by one of the few ladies in the group, & was the winner of the painting competition. Girl power!
We had a bake sale to raise money for the club.
Cake Pops decorated like the dice used for the game. Yum!
They were short one name tag, but leave it to the women to come up with a suitable replacement. He wore that plate all day. Heehee!
Even though he makes me hang out with sweaty, fat guys, I do love him.

Things I'm doing at 4:00 AM
- Not sleeping.
- Watching Stargate SG-1 on Netflix. I'm trying to take a greater interest in the TV that my boyfriend is actually willing to watch after several years of him suffering through Maury & Judge Judy. Love him!
- Complaining.
- Looking at the house that was clean yesterday, which is now untidy...again.
- Reflecting a little on my first night of 3rd shift - although I'm trying not to do that too much.
- Still thinking about how smokin' hot Patrick Wilson is. I watched Morning Glory earlier tonight. Super cute movie.
- Also thinking about how smokin' hot Ryan Reynolds is. I watched the Proposal earlier too.
- Googling pictures of smokin' hot men for your viewing pleasure. You're welcome.

Lazy Sunday, lazy blog post.
I was woken up a little too early by my dog, & then kept awake by a snoring, beg-hogging boyfriend.
I had the largest pile of laundry I've seen in a long time taking up space in my bedroom.
I desperately needed to mop my kitchen & bathroom floors.
So, I devoted the day to getting this house in shape. Here's what I did today.
Who else loves that show? Cheese curls & elk - c'mon now!

- Started the laundry at 10:00 AM. Still going strong at 6:30 PM. FML.
- Mopped those nasty floors.
- Cleaned some stuff, & then cleaned some more stuff.
- Took my entire vacuum apart because it wasn't working. Found so much fur in the hose that I should have named it & put in in a designer bag like Paris Hilton.
- Organized both my living room closets
- Argued with my dog everytime she needed to go outside. She doesn't do rain so well.
- Febreezed the shit out of some stuff so it doesn't smell like cigarettes. Even though I have a strict "No Smoking" policy in this house, it still stinks. I'd really like the boyfriend to drop that nasty habit sooner, rather than later.

Where have I been?
I haven't blogged for a while, mostly because I haven't had anything interesting to stay, but also because work has been C-R-A-Z-Y!
Here's what I've been doing in my absence from the Blog World:
Here's what I've been doing in my absence from the Blog World:
- Seeing a SteamPunk exhibit with my aunt
- Hitting up the Border's liquidation sale. I'm so sad to see my local store go!
- Joining Paperback Swap, an online book club that my friend suggested. Thanks, Steph!
- Reading Patton Oswalt's Zombie Spaceship Wasteland
- Catching up on my DVR back log
- Not cleaning out my purple room
- Waiting (im)patiently for the results of my nursing school placement test
- Reading your blogs.

Purple room: 1. Renee: 0.
DJ & I moved into our house a year ago.
For the most part, I keep the place tidy as much as I can. But, I do work full time, & it's not always as tidy as I'd like it to be.
But, one thing I can't blame a full time job for is the state of my spare bedroom.
We don't have children, therefore no need for the spare bedroom. So, it's been our storage space - & there are boxes in there that have never been unpacked from when we moved a year ago.
It's sad, I know.
Today I was sure was the day. I had no other plans. I was going to clean that purple room.
And I started...but I didn't finish. Sigh.
I did make a good dent in it, & I'm going to do a little more each day until it's completed - but I'm feeling defeated for not getting it done today.
But, Big Bang Theory on the DVR was calling, & I couldn't help myself. I mean c'mon - Leornard & Penny are going to get back together one of these days! None of you care about that, but you should. That show is so funny!
Wow. It just became abundantly clear to me why I haven't unpacked my spare room after a year...

Because I have nothing else to write about.
Is Jimmy Fallon not the most adorable thing you've ever seen? I think he might be.

Image from Google.
I think his late night show is so underrated. If you haven't seen it, set your DVR - it's very funny stuff.
I've adored Jimmy since the SNL days, & I was always sad that he didn't become the next Adam Sandler after he left. But now I'm glad he's found his niche.
And as his star rises I'll always remember the good old days when he sang parody jingles for troll dolls (Google it! So funny...) & it only cost me $8 to see him at West Chester University.

Meet me on Monday

Meet me on Monday is a weekly blog hop hosted by Java at Never Growing Old. Just answer the questions & link up!
Questions:
1. What will your Christmas dinner consist of?
We're having a Christmas Eve lunch with the boyfriend's family. I'm planning on chicken parm & spaghetti, salad, beer bread & who knows what else. My family will have more traditional food (ham, turkey, etc), but we don't have a sit down meal. We just have sandwiches, potato/macaroni salad & other finger foods. And we never forget the Polish food! It's nice, because extended family & friends come & go throughout the night, & every eats what they want when they want.
2. Do you watch commercials or flip through the channels?
I do a little of both. Sometimes I'm too impatient to wait, & other times I just have to watch because the commercials are so funny. Did anyone else see the Penelope Cruz commercial for Kahluah?? Love it!
3. How long will you leave your Christmas decorations up?
My family will be here on New Year's Day for pork & sauerkraut, so I'll keep them up until then.
4. What movie makes you cry every time you watch it?
Steel Magnolias. No matter how many times I see it, it gets me everytime. You would think I'd learn my lesson after a while.

The armadillo cake is one of the funnier points in the movie. If you haven't seen it, you must! Total chick flick, but I love it.
5. Do you have a Facebook?
Yes - & I'm an addict.

And so it begins.
Just when I thought my cats were turning over a new leaf, I realized these are my cats we're talking about.
The cats who eat lettuce.
The cats who cry when doors are closed, only to turn & walk away when the door is opened.
The cats who try to dig through my sliding glass door because there are leaves blowing around on the deck.
I went to bed thinking, "You know, they've been pretty good with the Christmas tree so far."
And then I woke up this morning, to the tree leaning against the front window & the tree skirt mangled into a pile of red fabric.
Apparently, Wrestlemania was located right under the tree sometime during the night.
Sigh.
On a completely unrelated note, one of my lovely cousins went to see the new Harry Potter movie last night, & this was her reaction:
Before -> :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I love her.

Meet me on Monday
I haven't done this one for a while, but it's always fun! Meet me on Monday is a blog hop hosted by Java at Never Growing Old. Just answer this weeks questions & link up. It's a great way to meet new bloggers.
Here are this week's questions:
1. Do you eat Sushi?
I only started in the last year & a half. DJ is a sushi lover, & he's slowly getting me to try some things. I love rolls that have avacado & salmon in them. My absolute favorite is a Philly roll though. You can't go wrong with cream cheese. Mmm...
2. What kind of bath soap do you use?
I like Dove for sensitive skin. My skin is troublesome at times. I use that to wash my make-up off because it doesn't dry my skin out.
3. How often do you talk to your Mom?
I'd say 3-5 times a week, mostly via email when she's bored at work. That's a lot more often then we used to talk when I lived at home. Our relationship is rocky, & my mom has her own set of issues. But it's getting better as I'm getting older.
4. What TV shows do you watch on a regular basis?
This is a long list, but here goes: True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, Eastbound & Down, Paranormal State, Psychic Kids, House, Raising Hope, Modern Family, Cougar Town & The Big Bang Theory. I'm addicted to all of them. If you haven't seen them, I highly recommend checking them out!
5. Did you start Christmas shopping yet?
Yes! I officially started the shopping part this past Saturday. Prior to that, I only ordered a gift for my MIL...but I guess that still counts, right?

Kevin Smith, Grant from Ghost Hunters & some guy that looks like DJ's stepdad
So, like I mentioned yesterday, my favorite part of my weekend away was the "celebrity" stalking! There were some look-alikes at the tournament, so I spent my weekend trying to take a good picture without being noticed.
Tell me what you think...

I had my cake & (I'm ashamed to say) I ate it too.
I went to the grocery store yesterday for some last minute taco dip supplies, & happened upon the bakery section. Well wouldn't you know, they have a freezer section in the bakery. And there in the freezer, staring back at me, we ice cream cakes; cute, little baby ice cream cakes. This is me we're talking about, so I couldn't resist.
When I got home from work last night the boyfriend & I watched the Paranormal State on the DVR & enjoyed some of the cute, little baby ice cream cake...at midnight.
And you know what? We'll probably do the same thing again tonight. We've still got Psychic Kids on the DVR!

Happy Halloween!
And Happy Birthday to me! I'm 26 today.
DJ made sure to yell "Happy Birthday" as soon as the clock struck midnight on Halloween. We watched 28 Days Later, which he insisted is the greatest zombie movie ever - but my money is still on Shaun of the Dead.
Since I'm working this weekend today will just be a typical day. I've got laundry to dry this morning. I have to run to the grocery store to pick up taco dip supplies for my charge nurse's birthday party tomorrow.
I made Halloween cupcakes & took them to work for this weekend. You know, like you did for your birthday when you were in kindergarten. Lol! And I'm picking up hoagies from the pizza shop around the corner for dinner. We're having a makeshift party with four people, but that's ok with me. Some of the other people I work with wouldn't even do that, & if I have to work on my b-day, I'm happy to at least be with people I like.
Until then, it's whatever horror movie I can find on TV.
Have a great Halloween everyone!

Day 28 - My favorite movie
This post will be short & sweet.
My favorite movie is The American President.

Image from Google.
It's a chick flick, but the writing & acting is excellent. I would recommend it to anyone!

Day 16 - Do I have to pick just one?

I don't really have a "celebrity crush."
I will admit, I'm an avid Perez Hilton reader/celebrity watcher. I can easily keep track of who is dating, who is breaking up, who is getting arrested, etc. But for me, it's more like a hobby. I'm not obsessed with these people. They're pretty. They have the fancy clothing & fancy lives we would all love.
In the interested of keeping up with the MEme, today I'm writing about Mr. Efron. I've never (nor will I ever) see the High School Musical movies. For the last few years when everyone was swooning over this kid, I wasn't paying much attention. That has started to change.
I saw him in Hairspray, which is a really cute movie. Then recently I saw him in 17 Again, also a really cute movie. Neither of these roles were Oscar worthy or anything, but it made me notice that there's just "something" about him that I can't quite put my finger on.
These days, whenever I
He really is a cutie though, isn't he?

Day 14 - "I transcend race, hombre."
My newest TV obsession is Eastbound & Down on HBO. This show is hilarious. Imagine the most ridiculous person you've ever met having no idea they're ridiculous. That's what this show is about.
Oh, & it's also about the greatest mullet I've ever seen.

Kenny Powers is a former baseball superstar who hit rock bottom & is now trying to find his way back to the top. It's the Office, HBO style (eg, lots of nudity & foul language). What I mean to say is, it combines the dry, sarcastic humor I love with lots of wildly inappropriate jokes & behavior that makes you cringe - & it's uncensored! Yay!
If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

Day 13 - And look at the stars. Don't they remind you just how feeble we are?
I have an eclectic taste in music. My Pandora radio station list includes the following: Jon Secada, Gin Blossoms & Cold...among other things. I'm one of those, "I like everything," kind of people who make you crazy when you're trying to decide what radio station to choose for a long car ride. But, it's the truth. I'm a "greatest hits" kind of girl & can hum along with a lot of songs on the radio.
But don't get me wrong, I can delve deeply into the music & lyrics hidden on an album because they're not deemed radio worthy. And that is why, out of all the classic rock, bubble gum pop & everything in between included in my musical library, I can name without a doubt my favorite artist. John Mayer.
I found John while he was touring for his second album. He actually came to little-ol'-Reading, PA for a concert because he wasn't a mega-star in those days. I had heard the songs on the radio, but didn't know much about him. I was tagging along to the concert with some friends, & I'm so glad I did.
Yes, there were screaming girls & soccer moms, but that's not enough to scare me away - I've seen the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys in concert. My friends & I weren't in the last row, but we weren't up front either. They were "eh" kind of seats, but that didn't matter either. Because all the shrieking aside, there was the music.
Since then I've seen John many times. I've had "eh" seats. I've been in the third row of the Borgata casino in Atlantic City. I've been crammed like a sardine in the front of Webster Hall in NYC. I've gotten up at 3:30 in the morning to drive to Philadelphia & stand in line for a signing at Tower Records on Broad Street. People have asked me why I go again & again, & the answer is simple: the music.
He's got a velvety kind of voice - & let's be honest, he ain't exactly hard on the eyes either.

Image from Google.
But what you may not know is, he's an incredible guitar player. I never realized it until the first time I saw him live, & it's what's kept me going back. Even if I knew my seats were in the last row with a pole obstructing my view, I would go to his concert because the experience would be the same.
In recent years his ego has grown with his career. He's said a lot of stupid things on Twitter & in interviews. Most notably, he made some ridiculous comments in Playboy earlier this year. That did not go over well with the masses, & his sarcastic sense of humor got him in some hot water. I saw a concert in February, shortly after all this happened. He was acting like a man making his last effort to save his career. My friend appropriately called it his "Apology Tour 2010."
Funny thing is, it was the first time in a long time that he seemed like the John I saw in Reading way back in the day. And he said something that night that struck a chord with me. He sent his band off the stage & standing alone with his acoustic guitar said to the crowd, "I want to do less talking & just get back to the music."
Works for me.

Can you imagine that guest list? Swamp thing, leprechauns, etc.
Last night Jenn & I watched the first two Twilight movies.
You're probably wondering if I'm ashamed of myself, & the answer is - absolutely not! There is no shame in my game, people. I still listen to the Spice Girls.
Somewhere between talks of how much hotter "happy Edward" is than "brooding Edward" & how creepy we are for drooling over Jacob's ridiculous body (because he was like 16 at the time) there was a discussion about Bella dating some other mythical creatures if things didn't pan out with those two.
Yep. You read that read. Two intelligent ladies in their mid-twenties spent Saturday night pondering the love life of a fictional character - with things that do not exist...and it was oh-so-fun.
Team Abominable Snowman, bitches!
